Soma abuse information

Carisoprodol abuse has escalated over the last decade in the United States. According to 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) data, non-medical use by U.S. population aged 12 and older of Soma (1.1%) was similar to or greater than other commonly abused schedule IV controlled drugs like Klonopin (1.5%), and Librium (0.3%).

Carsoprodol and liver consequences

Carisoprodol is metabolized by the liver and may supply cautiously in those that have hepatic disease. Caution should also provide in cases of renal disease connected with renal impairment or renal failure since carisoprodol metabolites and salicylic acid are excreted renally. To avoid excessive accumulation of substances or metabolites, use aspirin; carisoprodol cautiously in those that have compromised liver or kidney function.
